Napoli show why Swansea should be scared

Napoli issued a warning to Europa League opponents Swansea by demolishing Roma in the Coppa Italia last night.

Former Napoli legend Diego Maradona was in the stands watching as Napoli took Roma to pieces 3-0 to secure a place in the Italian Cup final.

Roma arrived at the Stadio San Paolo with a 3-2 lead from the first leg but when the lethal Jose Maria Callejon headed home having beaten the two centre-backs to meet a 33rd-minute Cristian Maggio cross, Napoli had the advantage.

Callejon very nearly struck again after the break but Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis pulled of a fantastic reaction stop.

But from the resulting corner, Gonzalo Higuain made it 2-0 after beating his marker to head home.

Roma had no answer as Napoli produced a devastating start to the second half and new signing Jorginho showed why he was so in demand in the January transfer window when he made it 3-0.

Dries Mertens' beautiful through ball was perfect for Jorginho who calmly flicked the ball past De Sanctis who had charged out.

While Roma did manage to fashion some openings and had a goal disallowed for offside, there was a sense that Rudi Garcia's men had been stunned into submission by Napoli's performance.

After the final whistle Napoli boss Rafa Benitez described the evening as 'almost perfect' and there were some serious warning signs for Swansea, who host Napoli this time next week.

The budding partnership between Jorginho and Gokhan Inler in midfield plus the scoring form of Higuain and Callejon will be a big worry for Swansea, who must look to press a defence that has on occasion looked sluggish.
