All the latest news and views from Stamford Bridge including former Arsenal player assisting Roman Abramovich's contact for Hazard and Manchester City injury update.
One year prior to Eden Hazard's 2012 Chelsea transfer for £32m he was contacted by Roman Abramovich through an unwitting medium. According to a report in The Mirror, Didier Drogba was with the wealthy Russian in London and called his international team-mate Gervinho who, before he moved to Arsenal, was in the same Lille team as Hazard.
'Pass the phone to him, there's someone here who wants to talk to him,' Drogba is quoted to have said in a new book by Rudi Garcia. Gervinho passed Hazard the phone and was told his wages would be trebled. One year on, he signed for the West Londoners.
Hazard has not only been majestic for Chelsea, but has been one of the strongest performers in the Premier League period. He has completed 83% of his 1,135 pass attempts, has created an astonishing 65 chances, assisted five times, has a 64% striking accuracy and has scored a dozen goals to boot.
He will need to be on top form once again when Chelsea travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City on Saturday, February 15 in the FA Cup, a side who have been granted their own injury boost ahead of the match as it has emerged that precise passer Samir Nasri may be welcomed back to the fold.
According to a report in The Telegraph, Nasri has returned to training after his six week injury layoff due to a knee complaint and could feature on Saturday.
And finally, here is proof that Samuel Eto'o has swag. Or something like that…
