€15m Liverpool target wants summer transfer to a more competitive league

Liverpool linked midfielder Yann M'Vila is primed for a summer transfer claim reports.

Liverpool were strongly linked with a January transfer deal for French midfielder Yann M'Vila to reinforce their current options, but like many it failed to materialise.

M'Vila is a defensive midfielder who would provide an alternative to Lucas in the centre of the park, strengthening a position where the club lack depth.

Even on deadline day the Reds were linked with making a late move, but those rumours proved to be wide of the mark.

The Frenchman however is keen on a move away from current club Rubin Kazan in the summer, write Russian website Sport-Express.

M'Vila's agent claims his client to want to play in a 'more competitive league', which would certainly indicate a move to England would be on the cards, should Liverpool want to re-ignite their interest.

Kazan sit eighth in the Russian Premier League and look unlikely even to make the Europa League at this point, so the reasons for M'Vila wanting a new challenge quickly begin to stack up.

Liverpool may though pause for thought concerning the midfielder. He arrived in Russia with a big reputation on the field, if a little wayward off it.

While he has kept out of any trouble off the field, on it for Rubin Kazan he has disappointed compared to the expectation played on him, and ranks lowly in terms of tackles and interceptions made against his teammates this season, key areas for a defensive midfielder.

Napoli are claimed to be interested, having failed in their efforts also to land a defensive midfielder in January also.

M'Vila, at 23, has plenty of time to realise his potential, and a switch to a bigger club will surely be key in helping him doing it.

It will therefore be crucial he lifts his game between now and the end of the season to convince Liverpool or any other interested party to part with their money to sign him.
