Defensive strength at Emirates
Twice this season Arsenal have been humbled by large scorelines. They lost 6-3 to Manchester City and 5-1 to Liverpool, however, both results occurred on the road, at the Etihad Stadium and at Anfield, last Saturday. At the Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger's side are defensively exceptional, conceding just six times from 12 matches at Ashburton Grove - the best home record in the Premier League. The Gunners have also kept ten clean sheets from their last 11 games in all competitions.
Combined with their strength at the back, Arsenal have generally been exceptional performers at home, winning nine of their 12 games at the Emirates, drawing two and losing one - their opening day 3-1 defeat sustained against Aston Villa. They have also scored 22 goals in front of their own fans in the league thus far and, from their last eight matches at home, they have won six by a 2-0 score.
In David Moyes, Manchester United have a manager who has never, not even once, celebrated an away win in the Premier League over any of one of the following four established big clubs in England, as Everton boss, or in his current occupancy at Old Trafford… against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, Moyes has managed 48 away games, losing 30 and drawing 18. He has yet to win.
