Mancini to raid old club Man City for £12m defender – report

The Galatasaray boss has been linked with a return to his ex-employers to try and sign Matija Nastasic.

Given that Roberto Mancini built the core of the current Manchester City squad, it is only natural that the Italian manager will be linked with trying to sign some of his former charges.

Since taking over at Galatasaray, the ex-Etihad Stadium boss has been rumoured to be interested in bringing a host of City men to Turkey.

The latest potential swoop is thought to be for Matija Nastasic, with talkSPORT suggesting that the Serb is in the Super Lig club’s sights.

Nastasic impressed last season after a summer move from Fiorentina, and was more often than not Vincent Kompany’s central defensive partner.

However, this season under Manuel Pellegrini, the 20-year-old has found first-team opportunities more fleeting, and has only started 11 games in the Premier League.

With City believed to be on the trail of highly rated Porto centre-half Eliaquim Mangala, there may well be some substance in a possible exit for one of the current central defenders.

With Nastasic still with plenty of years ahead of him, it is likely that Joleon Lescott will leave first, but a bid from Galatasaray could test City’s resolve.
