So much for the rumours! Manchester United man has his say

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has spoken out about reports claiming he is set to retire.

The Sun has run a story casting doubt over Rio Ferdinand's future with the Manchester United defender reportedly set to miss the club's warm weather training which begins later this week.

As well as claiming Ferdinand would miss the club's trip to the Middle East, the story also said the former England defender is "set to announce he will retire this summer".

Ferdinand's future has been in some doubt, with his current United contract expiring at the end of June.  But now the 35-year-old has taken to Twitter to have his say on the story by journalist Neil Custis.

While it was not a complete denial, the tone was such that it appears Ferdinand has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet.
