A report from Spain has taken a very harsh look at Manchester United's current struggles.
Manchester United most regularly find themselves in the Spanish press when they are linked with a current La Liga player. And recently there have been plenty of those, from Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas last summer through to Koke and Filipe Luis in more recent times.
But David Moyes’ side now find themselves being discussed in the Spanish media for a very different reason – their current struggles.
“David Moyes knew replacing Sir Alex Ferguson was not going to be easy, but he could never think that he was going to lose control of the group,” says the report, before adding that Moyes has “failed to earn the respect of the veterans of the group.”
These reports are, of course, unsubstantiated, but it does not stop there.
“Manchester United veterans respected blindly what Alex Ferguson said,” it goes on. “Not so with David Moyes…the team’s results show that there is a major split in the dressing room.”
If this is how the Spanish media consider the current situation at Old Trafford, Moyes may have to look elsewhere for the players he hopes can turn his fortunes around come next season.
There is not a single quote or source to back up the latest claims. But the feeling is clear. United are in trouble, and something has to change…quickly.
