Chelsea latest: Early team news, Hazard going nowhere and striker’s ambition

Stamford Bridge Inside

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Stamford Bridge…

Chelsea go into this evening’s match against West Bromwich Albion knowing they can stretch their lead at the top of the table to four points. But that will be easier said than done given the Baggies’ fine recent record against the Blues.

In early team news, West Brom will be without Nicolas Anelka, Jonas Olsson and Stephane Sessegnon, while Chelsea are definitely without John Terry due to a minor injury.

Fernando Torres should return after three weeks out to give Jose Mourinho another option up front.

In other news, the London Evening Standard reports on quotes from Eden Hazard in relation to the rumours linking him with Paris Saint-Germain.

There was never a question of leaving Chelsea,” the Belgian said. “I feel good at this club, and I still have a lot of things to do here.

“I’m flattered to read that PSG are interested in me. But that doesn’t worry me. No one will change my mind. The objective is to be the best with Chelsea.”

That is amazing news for fans of the Blues, who have witness Hazard blossom under the tutelage of Mourinho and become one of the best players not only in England but in Europe.

And he could soon be joined at Stamford Bridge by Romelu Lukaku, who has been speaking about his hopes for Champions League football.

In quotes published by the Mirror, the Belgian striker currently on loan at Everton said, “It’s time for me to play Champions League.

“That’s what I want. I still have two years on my contract in Chelsea and I know they’re tracking my evolution. In the end, it’s up to the manager to decide.”

Surely given Lukaku’s progress in the last two seasons, Mourinho will bring him home in the summer.
