Arsenal morning news: Duo reject new contracts, midfielder reveals Wenger's fury

Sagna

A round up of news stories about Arsenal this morning.

Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski have both reportedly turned down new contracts with the club.

It’s the third time that talks have failed over a new deal for Sagna while Fabianski has made it clear he wants to be number one.

“I want to be No.1 in the club and in the Polish national team. I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods. With biggest respect to this great club, I didn’t accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad,” the ‘keeper told the Daily Star.

Mesut Ozil has been described as close to the ‘red zone’ in terms of his current fitness.

The German’s performances have dropped off dramatically since Christmas and the Daily Mail suggests his fitness is the current problem.

Ozil has come from a top flight in La Liga where a winter break each year is routine as opposed to playing through the Christmas and New Year period.

Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsene Wenger was furious at half-time last weekend as the Gunners lost at Liverpool.

Arsenal went into the break at Anfield 4-0 down, going on to lose the match 5-1 after 90 minutes.

“The manager was really upset at half-time, that’s normal because it wasn’t good enough for this football club. It was the angriest I have seen him,” Arteta told the Guardian.
