On this day: Gazza moved to intensive care and bookie pays out on United title win

On February 10 2013, what were the stories hitting the headlines? Including news about a former Tottenham star, Manchester United and an Arsenal flop.

The weekend of Premier League action produced some fantastic results with Chelsea moving to the top of the Premier League as Arsenal were thumped away at Liverpool and Manchester City failing to beat Norwich City.

There will also be plenty of disgruntled Manchester United fans this morning after David Moyes’ men dropped more points at home against a Fulham side battling to avoid the drop.

We’ve taken a look back to see what stories people were talking about on this day last year.

‘Gazza hospitalised’

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England star Paul Gascoigne remained in a United States hospital, fighting against his alcoholism.

Gazza suffered a bad reaction to the detox schedule he was placed on in Arizona and was moved to the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

“Paul has experienced severe complications with his detoxification. This is not unusual for someone who has been drinking as heavily as he has. Paul was transferred from the US Clinic Cottonwood to a local hospital to be monitored so as to be completely satisfied that there are no other complications to his health,” said his therapist Dr John McKeown.

‘Bookie pays out on United title win’

Paddy Power starting paying out on Manchester United winning the Premier League title.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side held a 12 point lead at the top of the Premier League after Manchester City dropped further points away at Southampton.

United had 65 points after 26 games, a tally that fans can only dream of at the moment under David Moyes.

‘Santos leaves Gunners’

Andre Santos left Arsenal, heading to Brazil to finalise the details of a loan move to Gremio.

Santos had made just 13 league starts by this point last year and is widely regarded as one of Arsene Wenger’s greatest flops.

Arsenal brought in Nacho Monreal last winter and with Kieran Gibbs getting closer to regular first team football, the writing was on the wall for Santos.
