It has been a relatively quiet day in terms of Arsenal news, with the fall-out of their 5-1 defeat to Liverpool still occupying many of the sports pages.
However, Arsene Wenger has received some better news when it comes to the Gunners’ Champions League campaign.
Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery will be unavailable for the first-leg of the last-16 match as he recovers from an operation to repair a burst blood vessel in his buttock.
As reported by the Guardian, the Frenchman will sit out the first match at the Emirates as he begins his build up to a return to full training.
“I’m really enjoy my time here and have settled in really well,” he said.
“Even before I played a game for Sheffield Wednesday, the fans were tweeting me, welcoming me to the club and I want to repay them for that.”
“The team are playing with confidence and I was delighted to score my first goal on Saturday, but the main thing was that we won the game and kept a clean-sheet.”
The 20-year-old striker will no doubt be hoping that goal is just the first of many, as he attempts to help the Owls up the Championship table.
