Erik Lamela's brother has indicated via Twitter that he could be out until March, despite Sherwood insisting publicly he has 'no idea'.
Brian Lamela, brother of former Roma star Erik, has indicated that his sibling could be out injured until next month, after responding to a fan on Twitter:
The Argentinian international hasn't had the most fruitful starts at White Hart Lane and with the World Cup coming up in the summer, it's only natural the 21-year-old playmaker will be desperate to make the squad despite facing impressive competition.
Despite the claim of the playmaker's brother, Tim Sherwood recently said he he had no idea when Lamela could be back and was reluctant to put a time on it, stating on the 7th Feb:
''He's [Lamela] injured. He's had a thigh injury and he's got a niggle in his back. We're still assessing him, along with Vlad Chiriches and Sandro. They're the three who are not available for the weekend [against Everton].
''They [the medical staff] keep monitoring the situation and I keep asking for an update, and they keep telling me that we'll just have to investigate a little bit further. Hopefully we're making progress, I couldn't put a time on it.''
Lamela hasn't played for Spurs since December 29th, where he came on for 15 minutes in their 3-0 win at home against Stoke City.
Tottenham supporters still have high hopes for Lamela and the news that his injury could carry over into March could be a huge blow for the club's chances of finishing fourth, but naturally everybody would rather he make a full recovery rather than risk returning too soon.
For Lamela, it's an injury that throws significant doubt over his place in the World Cup squad, never mind the starting 11, so will be desperate to get back and playing for Spurs as soon as possible.
