David Moyes is reportedly set to be handed a £100million transfer budget this summer. Here are three Ligue 1 players Manchester United should target.

Today’s Mail on Sunday is leading their coverage with the news that Manchester United boss David Moyes has a £100 million shopping list this summer. The story reveals that Juventus star Paul Pogba and Southampton youngster Luke Shaw are top of Moyes’ wanted list, along with Pogba’s teammate Arturo Vidal and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

United will not be the only side targeting these four players, so Moyes will need a few back-up options. Here are three players from Ligue 1 that Moyes should target this summer.

Alexandre Lacazette – Olympique Lyonnais

This 22-year-old forward is playing the best football of his career right now. He has scored 12 goals already this season; only Paris Saint-Germain duo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani have scored more than Lacazette.

He combines impressive quickness and ability on the ball with intelligence, power and the ability to explode and create goal-scoring chances from nowhere. Lyon coach Remi Garde has now began using Lacazette in a more central role; this is where he has been much more effective. Using his ability to jink past players and create his own chances.

Lacazette is ready for the next step, and with every goal that he scores this season, the suitors will begin to increase.

Marco Verratti – Paris Saint-Germain

Pogba is going to be a wanted man this summer, and if United fail to lure him back to Old Trafford then Paris may be his destination of choice. With the recent signing of Yohan Cabaye, the midfield will become very congested if Pogba makes a move back to France.

This could give clubs the chance to sign PSG’s fiery midfield playmaker, Marco Verratti. First touted as the “new Andrea Pirlo”, the 21-year-old has begun making a new for himself. Not only a playmaker, he has shown great ability in winning the ball back, tough tackling and hard-working, he is a terrier in the middle of the park. No one in Ligue 1 makes more passes per game than Verratti, and at his age, he is always improving.

There are questions over his disciplinary record - he has picked up seven yellow cards this season - but in England, the referees would not be as strict, and it is a part of his game that has improved. Tough, stylish and an excellent passer, just the sort of player Moyes could build this new-look side around.

Layvin Kurzawa – AS Monaco

Patrice Evra’s days at Old Trafford look to be coming to an end, how apt would it be if Moyes was to return to the club that gave them Evra to sign his replacement? Layvin Kurzawa has been one of the most impressive defenders in France this season, at only 21-years-old. He has shown great desire to get forward and used his early days as a striker to score four goals this season.

He has also impressed in his defensive duties, leading the league in interceptions. As a young defender he has made mistakes, but he has shown enough ability to have Europe’s best teams scouting him. He has also added two assists to his play, bursting forward whenever possible; he would be an asset to any top side.

These may not be the top names that United fans would be looking for, but all three would add quality to David Moyes current side. Add these to the other top names that are on United’s wanted list and United will be back challenging for the title next season.
