Liverpool morning news: Skrtel hails ‘perfect win’; two new defenders linked

A select round-up of news relating to Liverpool

Two-goal hero Martin Skrtel has been talking to Liverpool’s official website about the 5-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

It was a perfect win for us,” he said. “We knew before the game that it was going to be tough, and it’s always special when you play big teams like Arsenal.

“We just wanted to start the game well and show we were ready for them.”

Well they certainly did that, and now the Reds are very much in the mix for the title, although there is a long way still to go.

In transfer news, the Mirror reports that Liverpool are interested in signing Ashley Cole to solve their long-running left-back issues.

A free agent next summer, the Chelsea defender is reportedly keen on at least one more season in the Premier League before he potentially moves to the MLS.

And another player has been linked with Anfield, with the Sunday People claiming Brendan Rodgers may bid for Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles at the end of the current campaign.

The 20-year-old is hot property and has also been linked with Arsenal.
