Chelsea fans react to Hazard performance v Newcastle on Twitter - Premier League's Messi?

Eden Hazard Dribbling

Eden Hazard produced a scintillating display to dismantle Newcastle United in a 3-0 win yesterday afternoon

It was no surprise to see Chelsea waltz to victory over Newcastle United yesterday afternoon. The Blues had just pulled off perhaps the result of the season, at least until Liverpool pasted Arsenal that is, in their 1-0 away reverse at Manchester City - and Jose Mourinho has everyone dancing to his merry tune once again.

Newcastle United, still reeling from the loss of Yohan Cabaye and the 3-0 home defeat against fierce rivals Sunderland, never looked a credible threat at St James Park - and their increasing list of injuries even saw Dan Gosling get a game.

So Chelsea were expected to win - and one man who had an absolute field day was Belgian maestro Eden Hazard.

The attacker was potent from the off - and Newcastle had little or no way of dealing with his raw pace, dribbling proficiency and deceptive pace.

He bagged all three goals in the game - the first two of which came from stunning moments of individuality - the other, a coolly dispatched penalty.

It all comes in a week in which Hazard’s stock seems to have risen to its highest point since his English switch.

He is talking about emulating the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo by adding goals to his impressive game. All the while Jose Mourinho is suggesting he is the best young player in the world right now. Based on the evidence shown yesterday, both do not seem out of the realms of possibility.

His performance, with a little helping hand from a resolute Norwich City side and the Liverpool thrashing, has seen Chelsea sweep to the summit of the Premier League table.

While Jose Mourinho maintains that the club are not title contenders - it seems the Special One doth protest too much in that respect.

They are top of the league - and with this man firing on all cylinders they might just stay there until May.

Here is what some of the fans thought about Hazard’s display vs Newcastle United yesterday afternoon…
