'Liverpool were in, but I don’t think Thomas is ready to go to Liverpool yet. Maybe in two or three years’ time that might be a move for him'.
And it took the 22-year-old just 15 minutes to open the scoring in Palace's 3-1 win over West Brom Saturady, before also providing the cross for Joe Ledley's first goal for the club 12 minutes later.
Understandably, Thomas Ince was delighted, telling reporters after the game: 'I’ve been able to add that (scoring goals) to my game in the last couple of years, playing out wide but also playing in that number 10 role that I played in today'.
'It’s vital that I can get in the box and help Cham (Marouane Chamakh), who does an unbelievable job up there. To get three goals today, we fully deserved them'.
Talented though he is, Ince probably made the correct decision to join Palace on loan instead of Liverpool, as opportunities of first-team action would surely be more limited at Anfield, given how well the Liverpool team are currently playing.
