Emmanuel Adebayor has confessed that he slated the former Tottenham manager while the rest of the squad watched on.
Emmanuel Adebayor has been a man reborn under Tim Sherwood at Tottenham, with the Togolese striker a key man once more for the north London side.
However, the African attacker spent the first part of the season training with the reserves and on the fringes of the first team under Andre Villas-Boas.
Adebayor, never one to shy away from controversy, has revealed that he slated the Portuguese coach in front of the rest of the squad – which gives an insight into why the ex-Porto man was reluctant to pick the forward in his sides.
“Villas-Boas brought his ideas and I told him they would not help the team,” said Adebayor as quoted in The Times.
“I have had a chance to play for a lot of top clubs in my career and I know how it is supposed to be.
“I told him one on one and he did not want to listen, and then I told him in front of the group. Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe it was a good [idea], maybe it was a bad one. I do not know, but I spoke my mind.”
Adebayor has scored five Premier League goals in nine appearances since being reintroduced to the Tottenham side.
