VIDEO: Football League Goal of the Year nominees

Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest players' amongst others nominated for Mitre Goal of the Year

The Football League provided some wonderful goals and moments in 2013 from the long-range shots that found the very, very top corners of the net to the outstanding team goals which included around 20+ passes from winning the ball to hitting the back of the net.

We take a look at the official Mitre Goal of the Year nominations and give our thoughts on who should win the prestigious award.

Here are the nominees:

A) Harry Arter - BOURNEMOUTH vs MK Dons

B) Paddy McCourt - BARNSLEY vs Middlesbrough

C) Lee Novak - BIRMINGHAM vs Blackburn

D) Jason Lowe - BLACKBURN vs Middlesbrough

E) Tom Ince - BLACKPOOL vs Watford

F) Neil Danns - BOLTON vs Barnsley

H) Danny Ings - BURNLEY vs QPR

I) Dale Stephens - CHARLTON vs Doncaster

J) Craig Bryson - DERBY vs Yeovil Town

T) Gareth McCleary - READING vs QPR

U) Jermaine Johnson - SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY vs Blackburn

V) Troy Deeney - WATFORD vs Leicester City

W) Nick Powell - WIGAN vs Bolton

X) Paddy Madden - YEOVIL vs Brentford

Looking back at the amount of incredible goals scored in 2013 is a great advert for lower league football, proving it's not just the Premier League and other top European leagues capable of breathtaking moments of brilliance.

However, my top three are:

1) Troy Deeney vs Leicester City.

As a goal, you will probably see many better over the next weekend, however, in that situation to score a goal in the manner that they did - It's what football is all about.

2) Craig Bryson vs Yeovil Town

Derby County showed off their passing game to perfection in their away match to Yeovil earlier this season, with 24 passes being made from the ball being won to the goal being scored. A goal like this is normally associated with Barcelona, Argentina or Brazil not a Football League side.

3) Paddy McCourt vs Middlesbrough

A goal you have to simply watch over and over again. The former Celtic man danced his way through SIX defenders before slotting the ball past a stunned Jason Steele, leaving the team from the North East  in despair.
