Olivier Giroud has already taken to Twitter to admit his role in the woeful Arsenal performance against Liverpool today - and he has been joined by another Gunners stalwart.
Arsenal were thoroughly whooped by Liverpool - who went 4-0 up after just 19 minutes - and one of the players who did not cover himself in glory was Per Mertesacker.
This game represented the first occasion Arsenal have lost when Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny played 90 minutes together in the Premier League - and neither performed well.
They struggled with the pace of the dynamic Liverpool attack - with Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho running the Arsenal defence ragged for the majority of the game.
Mertesacker has taken to Twitter to offer his sincere apologies to Arsenal fans after the defeat:
sorry guys, this was a bad day for the whole team. No we have to stand together in the defeat and get our heads sorted again.— Per Mertesacker (@mertesacker) February 8, 2014
Not sure the apology will be met with entirely warmly.
A whip-round the Arsenal dressing room to cover the travelling and ticketing costs for the fans that made the long trip up to Merseyside from London might go down a little bit better.
Can Arsenal bounce back against United?
