What did Arsenal's resident ranter have to say about the shocking defeat at Liverpool.
Had a bad day at the office recently? Worse than that of probably every single Arsenal player against Liverpool this afternoon? I doubt it.
The Arsenal players were left standing by a veracious, rampant and explosive Liverpool performance at Anfield in the early afternoon kick off.
They went 4-0 up within 18 minutes - and ended up winning the game 5-1.
Mesut Ozil was appalling, Jack Wilshere a headless chicken and the backline stagnant and staggered - meanwhile Olivier Giroud offered as much use up top as a chocolate fireguard.
Liverpool were, in defence of Arsenal, magnificent; but The Gunners were there for the taking after an abysmal performance.
Arsenal fans have of course every reason to be perturbed by the result - but they must also remember that this has been a very good season for The Gunners.
Criticism and fear therefore must be tempered by optimism as this looks like Arsenal’s best chance in a long time of winning silverware.
But one Arsenal fan who does not seem to do optimism is Piers Morgan.
The former editor of the Daily Mirror and TV presenter was watching the game in America - and was clearly struggling to watch the game.
He Tweeted his disdain throughout the 90 minutes and to show you his feelings effectively took a lot of filtering through Tweets.
Here is a selection of the best …
WAKE UP ARSENAL. For Christ's sake. We're getting absolutely shredded here. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
This is the moment our season collapsed. It's about the usual time. AAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
This is a DISGRACE. 4 goals in 19 minutes? We look like a bloody pub team. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
My shock has now dissipated into raw, naked FURY. These players have shamed Arsenal today. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
We had £200m to spend in January and bought someone I'd never heard of, who's injured for 6 weeks. Wenger, you BLEW IT AGAIN. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
A new striker would have lifted the whole team. Kim Kallstrom has deflated us like a popped balloon. Great work, Arsene. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
I told a friend last night our entire season could end in next three weeks. And my worst fears look like they're coming true. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 8, 2014
But you have to wonder if Morgan needs to take a reality check. This is a good season so far and the negative attitude is not going to help anyone throughout this tough month.
What is clear is that the Arsenal fans do not need such negative responses from fans. In this moment of need they require their fans to get behind them and show their support for the rest of the season - not this.
