Giroud apologises to Arsenal fans - 'A really poor performance today from me!'

Olivier Giroud has been apologetic on Twitter after his poor performance against Liverpool today.

Arsenal have been utterly thrashed by Liverpool today - as the home side ran out 5-1 victors at Anfield.

The writing was on the wall early on in this fixture - after Liverpool raced into a 4-0 win after just 19 minutes.

Goals from Martin Skrtel (2), Raheem Sterling (2) and Daniel Sturridge were enough to win the game - with a consolation penalty from Mikel Arteta the only highlight of the Arsenal performance.

Before the game the likes of Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud - two of the more Twitter friendly players at the club were letting the world know of their excitement ahead of the game.

But after the final whistle blew - we doubt any of that giddy feeling remained in the pit of their stomachs.

And one of the Arsenal stars has taken to the social network post-game with a message to the Arsenal fans after their Anfield humbling.

He stated:

Giroud is correct on both points.

He has a terrible game today. Service to him was not great, but he was immobile and rarely held the ball up when it came to him from the Arsenal midfield.

As for the United game in midweek? Well we know United are not in the best of form - but if Arsenal play like they did in the first 20 minutes today v David Moyes men they will be thrashed once again.

Giroud must improve, as do many of the teams players on today’s performance, but at least he recognises it.

Time will tell if he and the rest of his team-mates can make it up to those Arsenal fans left so bitterly disappointed today.
