Arsenal player-ratings from Liverpool drubbing - Ox and Wilshere pick of the bunch

Miyaichi Wilshere Koscielny Monreal And Ramsey

Arsenal's title challenge suffered a huge setback at Anfield, as Suarez, Sturridge and co put five past the Gunners

Martin Skrtel scored two early goals in what would prove to be a nightmare afternoon for Arsenal, while Sterling, who netted two, Suarez and Sturridge tormented Arsenal with their pace throughout the game.

With Ozil and Giroud not performing, and Arteta's penalty pretty much the only thing he brought to the match, Arsenal fans will be hoping they can bounce back against Manchester United in midweek.

Below are the player ratings for Arsenal:

Wojciech Szczesny 6.5/10 - For four of the goals the Pole could do little, and he also made a couple of decent saves to keep the score from getting more out of hand than it already had. Was left flat footed for Sturridge's strike. But saved well from Coutinho and Sterling with late on.

Bacary Sagna 4.5/10 - Sterling gave the Frenchman a really difficult afternoon, beating him for pace repeatedly but also surprisingly muscling him off the ball at times. Lost the Liverpool winger for both goals.

Nacho Monreal 4.5/10 - Struggled against Sturridge and got shown up on more than one occasion. Took a knock from the Uruguayan in the first half but carried on until he came off on the hour.

Per Mertesacker 4/10 - Both central defenders had a torrid time today as their vaunted record came to a crashing end. The German was left for dead repeatedly, giving away the free kick for Liverpool's first, and struggling to challenge the resulting ball, and looked completely unable to cope with Suarez and Sturridge. Was berated by Wilshere ahead of one Liverpool corner, and headed just wide from an Arsenal corner in their only first half chance.

Laurent Koscielny 4/10 - Koscielny had a terrible game, getting exposed by Daniel Sturridge and Sterling for their goals, and completely lacking his usual defensive confidence.

Mikel Arteta 5/10 - Just failed to provide any defensive cover whatsoever for what was a defence under siege. Had a flicked header straight at Mignolet in the second half. Scored the penalty and forced a great save from a free kick as Liverpool took their foot off the gas.

Jack Wilshere 6/10 - As combative as any Arsenal player was, despite losing out to Coutinho throughout. Strong run early in the second half that drew a foul and yellow for Henderson. Got his own yellow for a bad tackle on Sterling.

Mesut Ozil 4.5/10 - Like so many of his teammates, had little time on the ball to weave his magic, but this is why the club paid £42.4million for him, to find space and time when there is none. Wanted a foul in the lead up to Sturridge's goal, but has to be stronger on the ball. Taken off as part of a triple substitution by Wenger.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 6.5/10 - Barely had a sniff against Cissoko, though did better than most of his teammates. Hit a decent shot that Mignolet saved down to his right and won the penalty after Gerrard's poor challenge. Arsenal's best player and was full of effort.

Santi Cazorla 4.5/10 - After his recent excellent performances Cazorla will be disappointed to have had such little impact on the game. The Spaniard had no time to pull the strings or aim for goal.

Olivier Giroud 4/10 - Absent throughout the game and made no impact on Liverpool's defence. Withdrawn on the hour for Podolski.

Substitutes -

Lukas Podolski '61 5/10 - Like Giroud before him, struggled to get involved in the game up front for Arsenal.

Tomas Rosicky '61 5.5/10 - Came on for the ineffective Ozil and provided a little more impetus from central midfield.

Kieran Gibbs '61 5.5/10 - Made one good run into the Liverpool area after coming on for Monreal. Will be disappointed to have missed out for the Spaniard, with Arsenal missing his attacking threat down the right.
