Marouane Fellaini has another injury setback as he struggles during his debut season at Old Trafford.
The £27.5m summer deadline day signing from Everton has struggled with injuries and a number of fans’ criticism during his debut season at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old midfielder has started just four Premier League games for the Red Devils and has had to deal with separate wrist and thumb injuries as well as an on-going back problem which ruled him out of the crucial festive period.
As the hours were running out on deadline day, the majority of the Manchester United supporters were hopeful of a surprising deal for that elusive playmaking central midfielder that has been lacking for a number of years. However, instead Marouane Fellaini was announced as their big summer signing – much to the disappointment of the fans.
The Belgian international has since become a scapegoat by a number of disgruntled supporters – with one tweet last week reading ‘Please God no’ after Moyes revealed Fellaini would most likely be included in Man Utd’s match-day squad against Stoke City.
Unfortunately for Fellaini, the midfielder has picked up a reported groin injury in training and looks set for another week on the side-lines – missing key Premier League matches at home to Fulham and a crunch game against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday.
The news will come as further bad luck for manager David Moyes – who would probably have included Fellaini at the Emirates as a weapon at set pieces to break down a formidable Arsenal defence which has conceded just one goal at home since October.
However, a number of United supporters took to twitter to respond to Manchester United’s bad news – lambasting Marouane Fellaini in the process.
