After a challenging January transfer window for the Merseyside giants, Liverpool now look to be preparing for some summer spending…
Hailed as the ‘new Sergio Aguero’, the Metro reports that Brendan Rodgers is keen on acquiring the striker in the summer after sending his scouts to take a closer look at the Racing Club youngster.
“We know that many top clubs are following Vietto,” said agent Jorge Cysterpiller. “There is a lot of competition to sign him. Liverpool we know like him and so do Real Madrid – I think also two German teams.”
Interest in the £8.8 million-rated starlet ensued following his performances last year for the Argentina U20 team – he averages a goal every two games at youth international level after impressing in the Torneo Final with 8 goals and 2 assists in 16 games for Racing Club, including a hat trick against Newell’s in the Argentine top tier last term as well as 5 goals and 2 assists in 16 appearances in the Torneo Inicial.
The No.9’s agent also suggests the youngster could follow in the footsteps of his elder compatriot Sergio Aguero making his move to Europe. Aguero moved from Independiente to Atletico Madrid in 2003 before making his move to the Premier League to join Manchester City in 2011.
“I think he could move at the end of the European season,” Cysterpiller added.
Should he make a move to Anfield in the summer, he would find a number of South American players on the books. Brazilians Lucas Leiva and Coutinho play alongside Uruguayan international Luis Suarez - the Premier League’s current top scorer ahead of Ageuro - with 23 league goals scored already this season.
