Cagliari midfielder Andrea Tabanelli is stuck in limbo as he waits for a loan move to Leeds United to be approved.
Andrea Tabanelli was the first player to agree to follow Massimo Cellino from Cagliari to Leeds United, but while Cellino's deal remains incomplete, Tabanelli is left waiting.
The towering midfielder who stands at six foot four agreed to move to Elland Road in the January transfer window.
However, although the paperwork to bring Tabanelli to England was completed and filed, he has been left waiting for Cellino to gain clearance to complete the purchase of the club.
The 24-year-old is still owned by Cesena, who are in Serie B, but he was sent on loan to Cagliari in January after an impressive start to the season.
That loan was due to be transferred to Leeds to give him a chance to impress, having not been expected to feature in Cagliari's first-team plans.
Tabanelli's position at Leeds could be compromised in any case as it appears that Cellino made the signing during the brief window between his attempted sacking of manager Brian McDermott and his reinstatement.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tabanelli is sitting out training with Cagliari until his position is clarified and he faces the difficult position of being frozen out in Sardinia and not accepted by Leeds.
