Benitez: Chelsea job showed my focus

Napoli coach Rafa Benitez believes that his work at Chelsea showed his ability to focus on the task at hand despite media speculation.

There are reports in the Italian media that Qatar's Football Association is attempting to lure Napoli boss Rafa Benitez.

The former Liverpool man has seen a slight reversal of his fortunes at the Stadio San Paolo after a blistering start to the season.

The Partenopei struggled at the end of 2013 and haven't had the best of beginnings to the New Year with last weekend's shock 3-0 defeat to Atalanta coming as a blow.

Napoli are now 15 points behind leaders Juventus and have no realistic title aspirations but they must focus on securing Champions League qualification.

Benitez has always stressed that he sees his long-term future at Napoli, but there were reports yesterday that he may be offered the job of leading Qatar's national team to World Cup 2022.

It was suggested that Benitez could be offered a bumper contract that would begin at the end of the current campaign and pay him over £8m per year.

When quizzed about that rumour today, Benitez laughed it off and insisted that he is no stranger to rumours.

"They'll give me £8m a year in Qatar? Well, my bags are packed then," Benitez joked.

"I'm 100 percent concentrated on the job I am doing. It's like I showed in London when everyone expected me to leave and I stayed focused and won the Europa League."
