£10.8m Arsenal flop is now a 'feast for the eyes' says club president

Roma president James Pallotta has been gushing about former Arsenal player Gervinho.

Recently there has much hype over the performances of former Arsenal flop Gervinho. When he was sold in the summer, we imagine a few more extravagant Gunners’ fans popped a champagne cork or two - we are looking at you Piers Morgan.

However under Rudi Garcia at new club AS Roma he has been reborn.

Recently dubbed ‘the African Messi’ he has been one of the most consistent and outstanding performers in Serie A - as AS Roma keep pace with Juventus in the title challenge.

Recently he has been in great form in the Coppa Italia in particular - he scored against Juventus and bagged a double in the 3-2 win against Napoli in midweek.

Now he faces off against Lazio this weekend in perhaps the best form of his career - he certainly looks a completely different player to the clumsy error-prone man at Arsenal.

In fact he even recently suggested that he would beat Usain Bolt in a leg race - with a ball at their feet.

And the praise for the player has not stopped there - as his president James Pallotta has joined the throngs of complimenting admirers.

Pallotta, an American businessman, took control of Roma in August 2012 - and has since plunged sensible money into the club in their pursuit of elusive silverware.

And his £8 million signing of Gervinho has to go down as one of his best deals.

And he can recognise the potential of the player:

“He’s a feast for the eyes, he runs so fast that the opponents can never get him. He certainly could. He moves like Kevin Durant.”

Durant’s fast breaks have led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the brink of NBA glory - Pallotta will hope that Gervinho can do similar with the Giallorossi.
