In-demand Atletico Madrid striker was in the thick of it against Real Madrid.

Real Madrid defeated local rivals Atletico Madrid by a 3-0 scoreline in the Copa del Rey final on Wednesday evening but the story of the night was not the winning margin, but the treatment afforded to star striker Diego Costa - as well as his own reaction to it.

The £32m-rated forward is responsible for 20 goals and four assists from 22 matches in La Liga - an average return of one goal/assist every 77 minutes he is on the field. His goal-scoring exploits have caught the attention of the Premier League elite, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger referring to him as an animal while Jose Mourinho would no doubt welcome him to Chelsea due to the dearth of quality strikers at Stamford Bridge.

Considering there is an argument that England's top tier is 'more physical' than it's Spanish counterpart, Costa would have no problem acclimatising as he has had it rough of late. From getting uppercut punched in the gut recently, to his theatrics last night, Costa is certainly a wind-up merchant.

In the photograph above, Pepe can be seen attempting to blow snot out at him, while the video below sees Alvaro Arbeloa in an attempted stamp. Costa was no angel, though, as his love affair with the turf and desire to fall to ground resulted in raucous whistling from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu match-going fans.
