Fernando Torres is back in training as he looks to return from a knee problem.
Chelsea have been handed a big boost through the news that key striker Fernando Torres has returned to first team training.
Torres picked up a knee injury last month in Chelsea’s win against Manchester United and was initially ruled out ‘for weeks’ by boss Jose Mourinho.
We won’t get a clearer picture of Torres’ chances of playing until Mourinho’s press conference tomorrow but he remains doubtful to play any part against Newcastle United this weekend.
The picture suggests that Torres’ knee is now stable enough for him to take part and compete in full first team training, which suggests the only thing now holding him back is his match fitness and sharpness.
Even if he’s only named as a sub for the match this weekend, it’s a huge boost for the Blues to have an experienced and hungry striker to come off the bench, ready to make a statement.
