Manchester United's record signing has paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the 1958 Munich plane crash.

February 6 is a sombre date in the calendar of Manchester United; for the club itself, the staff, the players and anybody connected to it.

It marks the date when the plane carrying the Busby Babes crashed in Munich in icy conditions, causing several to lose their lives or be badly injured - including English football's golden boy Duncan Edwards.

It is not a date which goes ignored by the players, either - even those who have been at the club for little more than a week.

New signing Juan Mata paid tribute to the 'Flowers of Manchester' via his Twitter page, showing he is learning exactly what it means to be a United player already.

Amid the sadness connected with the date, it's at least uplifting to see the memories of those who lost their lives and who were affected continue to live on, and that the players today care and can see how important the history of the club is.
