Inter boss Walter Mazzarri is facing the possibility of the sack, while Clarence Seedorf has taken over an AC Milan ship that is listing badly.
It has been a terrible time for football in Milan as Juventus look set to run away with a third straight Scudetto, while Inter and AC Milan are underachieving.
Milan axed embattled tactician Massimiliano Allegri and replaced him with rookie Seedorf, who has made a positive start to his coaching career.
And Inter may also change direction soon if the Italian press are to be believed as Mazzarri has had a dismal start to 2014.
But Jose Mourinho, who delivered a historic treble at Inter, believes the Milan clubs should be patient.
"If we're honest there aren't that many top players in their squads to build a super squad in just a few months - it will take time and faith.
"I am and always will be an Inter fan and I think Mazzarri deserves time and trust. I also respect Milan and I hope Clarence can work with peace of mind.
"Italian football needs Milan to be giants and so I hope he can guide our rivals up the table."
