Chelsea morning news: Torres injury boost and Terry's bumper new contract

Fernando Torres

A round up of the latest news stories about Chelsea.

Chelsea have been handed good news in the form of striker Fernando Torres.

The Spaniard is back in training following a knee injury, giving Jose Mourinho extra options in attack.

It’s still unclear whether Torres is likely to feature in the Premier League match this weekend against Newcastle United.

The Daily Mail has reported John Terry is expected to sign a new one-year deal with the club.

The Chelsea icon’s contract expires at the end of the season, which has led to speculation over a possible move away.

The deal will reportedly be worth a staggering £150,000 per week to the experienced defender.

Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole continues to be linked with a move to former club Arsenal.

Cole has been an inconsistent starter at Chelsea this season, with his current contract expiring at the end of the campaign.

Cole has played behind Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back, with the Blues expected to add Southampton’s Luke Shaw to their squad this summer.
