Arsenal latest: 'Might have' Wilshere for Saturday as Suarez bid ruled out

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Cesc Fabregas wants his former club to win the Premier League title this season.

The playmaker, and former Gunners captain, left the club in 2011 for his first love - Barcelona. But he still loves the North London club - and had this to say earlier today:

“I watch every game of Arsenal’s. I am very happy how they are playing, they have a strong squad, they are top of the league. I cannot wait to see if they can lift the trophy finally. It would be amazing, they need to be very consistent between now and the end of the season.”

Arsene Wenger has insisted he has no future plans to make a move for Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker was the subject of a £40,000,001 form the Gunners last summer - which was rejected by Liverpool.

Now, ahead of the meeting between the two clubs on Saturday, Wenger has been asked about the summer chase for Suarez.

And he said of any renewed bid:

“You have sometimes regrets when a player played for you and scores goals or does well somewhere else. He was never our player. It is just a situation that did not come off and that is it.”

Asked if the situation could be revisited this summer, Wenger said: “At the moment, no.”

Edinson Cavani’s agent has arrived in London - which, despite the Transfer Window slamming shut just days ago, has the rumour mill churning.

Arsenal and Chelsea are being linked - with the Uruguayan reportedly unsettled in Paris.

Arsenal’s FA Cup ticket allocation for Liverpool is again being scrutinised today. Arsenal are offering just 5,168 of a possible 9,000 tickets for Liverpool travellers - suggesting the decision was made on safety grounds.

An update on team news ahead of the game with Liverpool on Saturday - and Jack Wilshere could return.

On that matter, Wenger said:

“We might have Wilshere back and that's basically it. It's important to have as many players back as possible in the squad. In the big games it is always decided by having the complete squad available. As many top players as possible because most of the time these games are decided by players who come on or strong players who have a big statement in a big game.”
