Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has recently signed a deal with one of the world’s leading sponsors Adidas.
Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa has attracted the attentions from the Premier League’s leading clubs following a highly impressive campaign so far.
The Hispanic-Brazilian – who reportedly has a release clause of €38m – has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 20 goals in 21 La Liga appearances as his side currently sit at the top of the Spanish top flight.
The coveted striker has not just attracted the world’s best clubs as a result of his goalscoring antics but also the world’s leading sponsors. Towards the end of 2013 Diego Costa’s deal had expired with Nike and he rejected a renewal as the financial package wasn’t in line with what the very best earn.
However, after waving off repeated interest from Nike and Puma, Diego Costa signed up with leading brand Adidas – a decision which will go down well with the national side.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, the Brazilian born striker will team up with fellow leading stars Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez in an elite group adorning the brand’s latest football boots. Diego Costa spoke of his new deal:
“I look forward to achieving success with these boots and I am proud to become part of the world class group of players sponsored by Adidas.”
The Chelsea and Arsenal linked striker will be hoping his new boots fire Atletico Madrid to La Liga glory for the first time in 18 years – as the Rojiblanco’s sit three points clear of Barcelona in second place. With just 16 games remaining, Diego Costa, Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale may yet have their say in the most exciting title-race in recent La Liga history.
