Tottenham latest: Fryers on his versatility, Parks on Lloris

Some of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Defender Zeki Fryers is hoping that his versatility can go a long way to impressing Tim Sherwood at Tottenham.

The 21-year-old has played in both the full-back and centre-back positions, and is continuing to learn about both positions.

Fryers told the Tottenham website: ‘I’m learning to play the two positions, full-back and centre-back, and that’s a good thing for me. I’m also trying to get used to playing both sides of the defence as well. It’s tough, but it’s about getting your bearings right and your positioning correct.

‘It means I’ll be ready should I ever be needed to fill in. I’ve had a few opportunities this season and I just want to try and stay in the set-up now, keep working hard and whenever the chances come by, try to make them and keep progressing.’

Goalkeeping coach Tony Parks has said one of the reasons current Spurs number one Hugo Lloris is such a good goalkeeper is because of his decision making, which makes him stand out from the rest.

Lloris made his 50th Premier League appearance at the weekend in the 1-1 draw against Hull City, and Parks told the club’s website: ‘Invariably, as a goalkeeper, you make one or two decisions that aren’t right, but I never see Hugo getting caught in areas where he’s thinking ‘shall I, shan’t I?’. He’s very quick-brained and quick-footed, and that gets him around the goal quickly.

‘I believe, absolutely, that he is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and I won’t change my opinion on that. The Club made a fantastic signing when we brought him in and I think he’s repaid that faith with a high level of performance over his 50 Premier League games for us so far.’

Reported transfer target Jackson Martinez has dropped a hint that he could be moving to the Premier League in the summer according to TalkSport.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in the Porto forward, along with Arsenal.

He’s quoted by TalkSport saying: ‘I am happy at Porto, but it would be nice to one day play in another big club.

‘I like the English, Italian, Spanish and German leagues. I have no preference.’
