Chelsea's favourite Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem suffered a disappointing home defeat in the Eredivisie last night, going down 2-0 to AZ Alkmaar.
The deadlock was rather unfortunately broken via Chelsea loanee Patrick van Aanholt scoring an own goal.
While unfortunate, it couldn't have been more poorly timed. Van Aanholt revealed over the weekend he had held talks with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho over his future, and discussed his desire to stay if he could get a shot at the first team.
It's a tall order even if Ashley Cole moves on at left-back, as he will still likely be replaced, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Ryan Bertrand in the 23-year-old's path.
The left-back has enjoyed a good season in Holland, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 20 games, although he will surely hope his manager isn't sent a tape of him getting his angles wrong last night.
