Former England striker bucks the popular opinion regarding West Ham United star.
His alleged elbow on Swansea City's Chico Flores was more a brush of his hair than violent conduct, although the Spaniard theatrically made the most of it.
The FA announced today West Ham's appeal had been unsuccessful, prompting Carroll himself to vent his opinion via Twitter:
DISGRACEFUL!!!— Andy Carroll (@AndyTCarroll) February 4, 2014
The man often of few words, needed no more than one to get his point across.
While the majority of fans and neutrals expressed sympathy with him via social media, there was one increasingly outspoken pundit who insisted the decision to red card Carroll was correct.
Over to former England striker Michael Owen who stated on Twitter:
So, Andy Carroll loses his appeal. As I said in my commentary, it was a soft Red but on balance, Howard Webb called it right.— michael owen (@themichaelowen) February 4, 2014
Carroll is yet to respond to Owen's comments, but you would be hard pressed to find a single West Ham fan who would agree with the BT Sport pundit.
