All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Old Trafford…
Manchester United have made some changes to their Champions League squad as the competition gears up for the knock-out stages.
Darren Fletcher has been added to the squad – a remarkable and much-welcomed feat given his struggles with ulcerative colitis.
The Scotland international has performed well since his return to first-team duties and, given the severity of the condition, it is fantastic news that he has not only returned to league action, but will also hopefully be involved in Europe once more.
Goalkeeper Ben Amos is also included, while Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane have both been added to the B-list – following the completion of their loan spells at Birmingham City and Derby Count respectively – along with striker James Wilson.
In other news, Dimitar Berbatov has revealed that it was advice from Patrice Evra that helped him decide on a deadline-day move to Monaco.
Speaking to L’Equipe, the Bulgarian striker said, “When Monaco contacted me, I spoke to Patrice Evra, one of my very good friends, and he said why not.”
Following alleged quotes from Anderson in which he is reported have said that many players “wanted out” of Old Trafford, including Nani, the Brazilian midfielder currently on loan at Fiorentina has moved to set the record straight.
Posting on Instagram, Anderson said he was shocked and surprised by an interview he claimed never existed.
“I’m like (a) fan (of the) club,” he said. “(I) love the club.”
And finally, the Manchester Evening News reports that the club’s fans groups are calling on United to introduce a section of Old Trafford dedicated to teenagers.
The issue is set to be discussed at a fans’ forum this week, with a petition already generating over 1,000 signatures.
