Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is reportedly in line for a new contract at the end of the season. The Daily Mail has suggested Brendan Rodgers has been so impressed with the midfielder this campaign, he’s looking to tie him down to a deal over the next few years.
Daniel Sturridge says former employers Chelsea didn’t believe in him. He’s revealed he was never sure if he’d get the chance to play up fronts for the Blues, prompting him to move to Liverpool in January last year.
“I was never sure if I'd play as a striker [at Chelsea] because people didn't believe in me. I was often asked to play in a different position and to do a job for the team but, having been a striker and then being asked to just flick a switch and play on the wing was always going to be difficult,” he told Liverpool’s website.
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has revealed he believes he’s becoming a better goalkeeper at the club. The Belgian cites training against Sturridge and Luis Suarez as one of the main reasons for his improvement.
“We all know what they can do and it’s unbelievable. I see that quality every day. When you are one v one with strikers of that quality you learn a lot of things,” he said.
Brazilian legend Cafu has revealed that he gets fan Tweets on Twitter describing Liverpool youngster Jon Flanagan as the RedCafu. The former World Cup winning right-back has also expressed a desire to watch Flanagan play more in the Premier League.
On the transfer front, Dnipro’s executive director says he is 1000% sure the club will sell Yevhen Konoplyanka to Liverpool this summer. Andriy Rusol has suggested his club are willing to let the player leave if Liverpool come knocking again in the summer.
Former Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita has revealed he turned down the chance to sign for Liverpool.
“When we received the call from Valencia, talks with Liverpool were at a very advanced stage. But then I told my agent we were going to Valencia. I did not doubt for a second,” he said.
Former Liverpool star John Aldridge has questioned why the club left it so late to try and pull off transfer deals. Liverpool missed out on Mohamed Salah to Chelsea before a deal for Yevhen Konoplyanka fell through at the last minute.
