Arsenal target Draxler: Schalke rejected an offer without asking me

The Germany international has revealed that the Bundesliga side turned down a bid in the transfer window without consulting him.

One of the main transfer sagas of the January window involved Arsenal’s repeated links with a move for Schalke star Julian Draxler.

In the end Gunners fans were disappointed, with the Germany international remaining in Gelsenkirchen.

The level of Arsenal interest has been up for debate, but the German club did admit that an offer from an unnamed club was rejected close to the end of the window.

Draxler has been vocal in talking about the speculation, and revealed knew nothing of the bid on the table.

“It shows the appreciation which I enjoy at Schalke when offers like these are refused without asking me,” the wideman told Kicker.

“That’s why I am happy to be here.”

It seems likely that a number of major clubs will revisit the Draxler chase in the summer, especially given that his release clause has been made public.

However, for the time being it appears that the star is happy at Schalke.
