Speaking to talkSPORT, Frank Leboeuf fully committed to building up and praising John Terry's potential replacement Kurt Zouma.
French U21 international Zouma was signed by Mourinho on deadline day, but was immediately loaned back to former side Saint-Etienne for the remainder of the season with the focus being on him playing next season.
Leboeuf, 46, commented on the 19-year-old during talkSPORT's popular drivetime show, saying:
''He will have to adapt to the Premier League, but he's a talented player.
''I saw him play at the weekend and he's very confident and very strong. Hopefully he will be compared to Marcel Desailly very soon, but will need a bit of time to settle down and get more experience.
''He can represent the future for Chelsea.''
For a 19-year-old youth team French international, it must be staggering to be considered in a similar light to a former France international captain and a defender who was integral to their 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 cup win.
However, it's hard to argue the comparison considering both defenders come from very similar backgrounds and showed a similar ability at a young age.
Desailly was a youth product of Ligue 1 side Nantes, playing alongside close friend Didier Deschamps and turning professional in 1986.
In 1992, he moved to French giants Marseille, where he reunited with Deschamps and went on to win the Champions League. He then went on to win trophies in Italy and England, as well as his major international awards.
Truth be told, if Zouma can have half the career Desailly had in his 20-years of professional football he will have done well for himself.
At 19 years of age, there is still a lot of work to do and development but he does look to have the tools to become one of the world's finest defenders.
