Arsenal fans have had the chance to vote on the striker they want Arsene Wenger to sign this summer.
Arsenal fans have voted on who they want to see the club go after this summer, as a late January move for FC Schalke’s Julian Draxler fell apart.
Gunners commonly agree that attack is where Arsene Wenger needs to add an extra body, with the summer presenting the Frenchman with the chance to put together realistic but expensive bids for some high profile strikers.
Arsenal forum Goonersworld, asked fans to vote on who they wanted the club to go after this summer with some high profile and prolific names on the list; Diego Costa, Karim Benzema, Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao and Wayne Rooney among others.
The result? At the time of writing, the overwhelming desire was for Arsenal to go after Paris Saint-Germain’s Cavani.
Cavani would be a fantastic signing for the Gunners but there are problems in the form of other sides interested.
Reports last month suggested David Moyes at Manchester United was prepared to wait to launch a £60 million bid for the Uruguayan in the summer, creating doubt over whether Wenger would want to go involved in one of the most expensive bidding wars in the history of football.
Cavani would fit the bill for Arsenal because he’s a tall, quick and strong forward, able to occupy the opposition defence and create space for influential midfielders to get on the ball.
It will be fascinating to watch if the 26-year-old is the man Wenger decides he wants to go after. Watch this space.
