Arsenal players took to Instagram to express their delight at beating Crystal Palace.

An Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain double in the second half helped Arsenal overcome a stubborn Palace side at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite dominating the first half, the Gunners failed to turn possession into goals as Palace looked content to hold out for a point. The Eagles were organised at the back and also dogged in midfield – extracting the entertainment out of the game.

At the start of the second half Crystal Palace’s hard work was undone as former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh failed to track Oxlade-Chamberlain as the midfielder collected Cazorla’s pass and slotted past Julian Speroni.

The Eagles nearly equalised minutes later as Cameron Jerome forced Szczesny into a fine save. However, with 20 minutes remaining England international Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his and Arsenal’s second after playing a neat one-two with Olivier Giroud before firing past the Palace keeper.

The 2-0 victory therefore returns Arsenal to the top of the Premier League where they will remain should Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea on Monday.

As for 20-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain, England boss Roy Hodgson would have enjoyed his performance as the Gunner deservedly picked up the MOTM award – before posing with it during some celebratory photos in the changing rooms with his team-mates.

How impressive was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during Arsenal’s victory over Crystal Palace?
