Teams who visit the Etihad Stadium with a defensive-minded approach do not reap any kind of positive result against a Manchester City currently annihilating all of their visitors in Premier League competition this season, says Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who has said ahead of the marquee tussle on Monday evening that his side will go for the win at all costs.
Chelsea are currently five points adrift of league leaders Arsenal, but have a game in hand, to be competed tonight against City - who have won eight on the spin since a 1-1 slip-up against Southampton in December.
'We are going to try to win knowing perfectly we can lose or draw. Our intention is to try to win,' said the Blues boss, according to Sky Sports, before adding: 'City score goals. Normally, when your approach is very defensive, if you concede a goal you are in trouble.
'Or you have to make changes during the game and you never know how the players adapt to it.'
Intriguingly, five of Chelsea's last eight Monday night games have yielded a draw, with three ending without a goal. City have also defeated Chelsea on each of their last four matches in Manchester.
