Arsenal fans beware: Another infamous Jose Mourinho mind game is around the corner.
In his own way, he has been tipping the Gunners for the title after his Chelsea side shocked Manchester City at the Etihad.
Mourinho: "Arsenal are top of the league and they play City at the Emirates, so maybe Arsenal feel now they are the favourites."— Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian) February 3, 2014
Mourinho told Sky after the 1-0 win that winning the Premier League was not an obsession for his side, stating:
"Our objective is not to win the league. Our objective is to build the team."
It's all classic kidology from the Chelsea boss, who is clearly trying to take the pressure of his team and pile it onto the others.
He did it in the build-up to the City game last night, even claiming the home side could demolish Chelsea 6-0. If it got into the minds of the players on either side it clearly worked.
Having vanquished City, temporarily at least, Mourinho is aware it's Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side who come under pressure, particularly with a tough Premier League clash with Liverpool awaiting at the weekend.
The mind games are well underway, it's just a question of whether Arsenal can avoid being sucked in by Mourinho, one of the masters.
