Conte impressed by Osvaldo pay cut

Juventus boss Antonio Conte insists that Pablo Daniel Osvaldo must be serious about joining the Old Lady due to his financial sacrifice.

Juventus signed Southampton striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo on loan and Bianconeri coach Antonio Conte is convinced that the troubled marksman is ready to give his all.

Osvaldo was excellent in Serie A for Roma, but his big-money move to the Premier League was a disaster.

Having been suspended by Southampton for attacking Jose Fonte in training, Osvaldo was offered a lifeline when Juventus made a loan swoop.

While some Juve fans have responded with cynicism, his new boss Conte believes the Italian international is fully committed to the cause.

"We grabbed an opportunity to sign him," Conte told Sky Sport Italia after watching his side beat Inter 3-1.

"He really wanted to play for Juventus and was even willing to take a pay cut. He will strengthen our attack.

"As we are chasing the Scudetto and the Europa League we will need to keep our energy level high and competition for places will help us."
