The Swedish international midfielder was Arsenal’s only deadline day signing – much to the disappointment of the Arsenal fans. To add insult to injury, however, Arsenal's new number 29 has been ruled out for at least six matches with a back injury.
It is reported that the former Spartak Moscow midfielder suffered the injury before joining the Gunners, sustained while Kallstrom was playing football on a beach during the Russian club’s tour in Abu Dhabi.
Kallstrom is said to have told Arsenal’s medical staff of the problem during his arrival on Friday. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, however, decided to go through with the transfer, and Kallstrom will now continue to undergo rehabilitation at the North London club.
When being informed in the Soccer Saturday studio, Arsenal legends Charlie Nicholas and Paul Merson had their heads in their hands in despair as the bewildering news hit home.
