Chelsea morning news: Lampard set for new deal while Terry may leave; loanee impressing in Spain

All the latest news and gossip from Stamford Bridge this morning.

Frank Lampard is set to be offered a new deal at the club. Lampard is out of contract in the summer and the England star, who turns 36 in the summer, is all set to be asked to play on in England for one more year.

He will reportedly stay at Chelsea and begin working on his coaching badges - despite reported interest from the MLS.

However, the same is not being said about two other members of the Chelsea old-guard out of contract in the summer.

John Terry and Ashley Cole are also free agents in the summer - but are not set to be offered new deals at the club.

Cole has not been in form this campaign - and has been dropped by Jose Mourinho. He is being linked with a move abroad to finish his career.

Terry however is in great form this season - and news of his apparently imminent departure will come as more of a shock to the fans.

He wants a two-year-deal at Stamford Bridge - which looks unlikely, and he is wanted by many teams from abroad.

Oriol Romeu will discuss his future at Chelsea with Jose Mourinho in the summer.

Romeu helped Valencia to a 3-2 win against Barcelona last night and has spoken about his options:

“I have no idea. I need to decide at the end of the season. Many things can happen. We will sit down and decide what is best for me to do. They are watching me and they are always telling me things. They are looking after me and that's good. You never know what can happen, but they are looking after me.”

The Spaniard has impressed for Valencia this season.

And some sad news this morning - as former Chelsea striker Tony Hateley has passed away.

The father of Mark Hateley scored 211 goals in his illustrious career - which also saw him play for Notts County, Aston Villa and Liverpool.

He was 72.
