Nicolas Otamendi may still leave Porto yet.
Nicolas Otamendi appeared destined to leave Porto on transfer deadline day, but still remains at the club,
This was of course stubbed out by David Moyes at his press conference, who told reporters United would be making no additions,
Otamendi did however come close to clinching a big move. Porto agreed a deal for him to sign for Spanish side Valencia.
The bad news for the Argentine was the paperwork for the deal was not completed in time for the deadline, and the switch collapsed.
He was left out of Porto's training session on Sunday, and it appears his future remains unclear.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo write that Otamendi is a likely transfer target for clubs in Russia and Ukraine, where transfer windows remain open until the end of this month.
Tuttomercato elaborate by stating there have been 'a number of requests' from clubs in the countries, with Zenit St Petersburg particularly interested.
Porto were linked with selling both Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando on deadline day but appear likely to keep both, and if they want to make money, Otamendi is their most likely player to be sold.
Should Manchester United want to re-investigate any interest they did indeed hold in the player when the summer comes around, they may just find he has moved on already.
