Morgan certainly isn’t shy in expressing his feelings when it comes to Arsenal.
As the January transfer window deadline ticked down, Morgan began his rants aimed at the ‘incomprehensible’ lack of Arsenal deal action.
To Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s credit, the Frenchman did manage to pull off a bit of business, as Swedish international midfielder Kim Kallstrom arrived on loan from Spartak Moscow. The 31-year-old will add much-needed cover for the injured Aaron Ramsey, as the Swede can operate as a deep lying playmaker. In addition, Kallstrom will add strength to Arsenal’s Champions League squad, as the former Lyon man has yet to feature in the competition this season.
Arsenal fans around the globe, however, were no doubt expecting some more cover upfront. Arsenal’s striking options beyond Olivier Giroud are currently very thin - hence Wenger’s failure to bring in strikers such as Mirko Vucinic, Julian Draxler, or even ex-Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, has riled certain sectors of the Arsenal fans. And no more so than Piers Morgan.
Morgan described the situation as ‘disgraceful management’, and boldly announced that Wenger has thrown away the league as he took to Twitter to voice his displeasure of the day’s dealings:
Wenger, you cannot be serious? NO new striker????? You've just thrown away the League. Disgraceful management. Enjoy your new deal. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) enero 31, 2014
Every Arsenal fan KNOWS we need a new striker to compete. So why would ANY of them defend Wenger for not buying one. Utter madness. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) enero 31, 2014
If Giroud gets injured, our season's over. Wenger's lack of action in transfer window is incomprehensible. #Afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) enero 31, 2014
Is Piers Morgan correct ? Will Arsene Wenger’s failure to bring in a striker cost Arsenal the league title ?
